Position Summary:
Monmouth University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Data Science opening in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering. This anticipated opening would begin in the Fall 2021 semester and is tenure-track. Rank will be commensurate with experience (academe or industrial) and accomplishment in the discipline of data science.

The candidate must have a track record of developing and teaching Data Science classes, and conducting applied research in all areas of Data Science to solve real-world problems with societal impact. The successful candidate will lead the Masters of Science in Data Science program that will start in Fall 2021.

Candidates must have completed a doctorate degree in data science, computer science, or a related discipline by the expected start date. The candidates must be committed to developing and teaching data science and computer science courses at both graduate and undergraduate levels. The candidates will have opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations across the university and with companies in the vibrant Jersey Shore technology corridor.

The successful applicant will teach 9 credits per semester of graduate and undergraduate courses (12 credits with a course load reduction for scholarship); will have a Program Director stipend in addition to the faculty salary; will maintain an active research program engaging graduate and undergraduate students; will develop relationships among the companies in the University's proximity; will seek external funding to support the research program; will mentor and advise students; and will serve on committees at the Department, School and University levels.

Monmouth University's Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering offers, in addition to the new Master of Science in Data Science, undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering (two undergraduate programs are ABET-accredited), and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Systems.
