The Department of History at Washington State University invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position in the field of African Diasporas in the Americas at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 16, 2021. Candidates should have a research focus which explores the Black experience in some part of the Americas. The Department of History especially values  scholarship that places an emphasis on the history of race and resistance.  Benefits are competitive. The position is part of a faculty cluster hire initiative in  the scholarship and teaching about racism and social inequality in the Americas. The university is particularly interested in hiring scholars who are deeply connected to and integrated into the communities that they study as a means to build on our strong tradition of engaged and applied scholarship at WSU.
