Position Description:
The Family and Consumer Sciences Education program seeks an energetic faculty member who is committed to the highest standards of scholarship and professional activities, and to the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. In addition, the applicant will be expected to supervise field experience students, student teachers and interns; actively recruit for the undergraduate and graduate programs; perform graduate student advising; serve on thesis and dissertation committees; promote undergraduate research; and provide service to the unit, the college, and the University as necessary. The preferred applicant will be an active leader in the family and consumer sciences profession. The candidate should display a demonstrated and ongoing commitment to serving diverse student populations. Salary commensurate with qualifications and rank.
Minimum Qualifications:
Professor of Practice: Doctorate in Family and
Consumer Sciences Education is required. ABDs majoring in FCSE will
be considered. Applicant must hold a current family and consumer
sciences teaching credential and have high school and/or middle
school teaching experience, preferably teaching FCS. Experience
mentoring or supervising student teachers is highly preferred.
Evidence of effective teaching in FCS programs is expected.
Evidence of successful recruitment initiatives or effective
recruitment ideas must be demonstrated. Evidence of scholarly
activity, including peer-reviewed publications in FCS journals is
preferred. Experience working with diverse student
populations and first-generation post-secondary students is highly
desirable.
