Endowed Professors of the Practice in the Hart Leadership Program, Duke University.

The Sanford School of Public Policy seeks applicants for up to two endowed Professors of the Practice to begin teaching in the Hart Leadership Program as regular rank faculty in the fall of 2021. Founded in 1986, the Hart Leadership Program has for decades piloted innovative ways of teaching leadership through civic and political engagement and community-based research. https://hart.sanford.duke.edu  We seek leaders with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring young people. Candidates will be expected to enhance the HLP’s signature teaching programs while also developing their own initiatives. We are especially interested in recruiting leaders from within universities or from the public and private sectors engaged in issues such as racial and class inequality, environmental justice, human rights, social entrepreneurship, and immigration. Candidates should have advanced or terminal degrees in areas of their expertise.  Candidates will teach two classes each semester and may occupy the rank of Associate or Full Professor of the Practice, depending on their experience and qualifications.

Candidates should provide a cover letter that outlines their leadership experience and philosophy; that describes how they would teach leadership; and explains why they are interested in joining the faculty of the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke.
