POSITION: The School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Radford University invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions with primary responsibilities in teaching and research in the Doctorate of Education program. Improvement science as a research method and  tool for change is at the core of the doctoral program, where students in a year-round online, practitioner-based program learn how to solve complex problems of practice in school systems with an emphasis on equity, ethics, and social justice.

APPOINTMENT CONDITIONS: These positions are tenure track, 9-month faculty appointments in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership with the expectation of supplemental summer teaching and advising. Local residency is required. Responsibilities:

The successful candidates will: have an active program of research; be responsible for teaching online and residential graduate courses; advise doctoral students; and provide service to the Department, College, University, and professional organizations or other external agencies.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in education from an accredited institution of higher learning. Candidates who have completed all doctoral work but have not yet defended their dissertation at the time of the application will also be considered, although candidates must have completed their degree by the time of hire.
  • Candidates must have experience with or a willingness to learn about improvement science.
  • Candidates must value the integration of applied and theoretical research knowledge, the use of field-based experiences, and collaborative work with diverse stakeholders to effect positive change in the lives of individuals and the communities in which they live.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach courses in research methods, equity/social justice, educational leadership, and/or other courses within the candidate’s area of expertise at the doctoral level.
  • Experience in PK-12 school district leadership.
  • A record of research and scholarship focusing on social justice, progressive education, and/or school-based reforms that serve low-income or other marginalized communities.
  • Experience with online teaching and a familiarity with distance learning trends and best practices.
