The University of Florida Department of Orthopaedics is currently recruiting a full-time academic hand surgeon at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor on non-tenure accruing track. Responsibilities will include primary patient care and teaching activities with opportunities for research participation within the Hand and Upper Extremity Division.

The Hand and Upper Extremity Division consists of 5 fellowship trained hand surgeons and two fellowship trained shoulder and elbow surgeons. We have 4 Physician Assistants that work full time with the Division. The Division also educates two hand (upper extremity fellows) and one shoulder and elbow fellow annually. A Chief resident and Junior Resident are on service at all times.

Research support includes 2 clinical coordinators, a bio skills lab, a motion analysis lab, a biomechanics lab and a very active gene therapy program. Opportunities for collaborating with physical therapy, engineering and the veterinarian medicine are currently active.

The main hand clinic is located in a modern 4 story building with physical therapy, hand therapy, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy as well as x-ray present. Immediately adjacent to this building is the outpatient surgery center. In patient surgery is performed in the modern wing of Shands hospital which is a level 1 trauma center.

Interested applicants must possess an MD/DO degree, successfully completed a residency in orthopaedics, plastic surgery or general surgery, have completed a minimum of one year fellowship in hand surgery and be board certified or board eligible. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated a serious ongoing commitment to academics including publications and teaching. An interest in congenital hand is a plus.

Salary and faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.
