40% RESEARCH
Maintain an active and productive research program that includes:
1) Obtaining external research funding,
2) Publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and
3) Presenting findings at professional conferences.

40% TEACHING/ADVISING
1) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biology,
2) Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught,
3) Participate in the academic advising of undergraduate and graduate students, and
4) Mentor students in research, including serving as a dissertation/thesis director and professional mentor for students.

20% SERVICE
1) Serve on committees at the Departmental, College, and/or University levels as the opportunities arise,
2) Participate in professional service, and
3) Participate in departmental meetings.

Position Overview

The Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of Kansas invites applications for a faculty position at the tenure-track of Assistant Professor level with a potential start date in August 2021. We are seeking outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Immunology with a focus on host-pathogen interactions whose research aligns with the NIH mission.

This position will have access to potential resources and support mechanisms associated with the NIH Chemical Biology for Infectious Disease Center of Biomedical Research Excellence ( https://cbid.cobre.ku.edu/ ).

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the biological sciences and post-doctoral research experience. Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential for establishing an independent, externally-funded research program. The successful candidate will also direct graduate student research and participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions of the University.
