Position Summary:
Position Overview
Responsible for day to day operations related to third party payers of student financial activities both internal and external, which includes recording transfers, financial transactions, and billings. Responsible for the understanding of and compliance with university, state, federal, and SBOE policies and procedures in order to enter, review, monitor, maintain, reconcile, and correct records related to third party contracts. Requires extensive public contact assisting the university and general public via phone, e-mail, and in person by interpreting and explaining financial and related records while using judgment, discretion, and interpretation in a wide variety of situations.

Key AccountabilityEnsure accurate and timely recording of external third party transfers and financial transactions and processing of third party billings by:
Job Duties
Verifying and transferring charges from student's accounts to contract accounts; interpreting and applying university, state, federal and SBOE policies and procedures relating to contract authorizations including monitoring departmental compliance to these policies and procedures; researching, resolving and correcting errors in contract processing; reconciling contract accounts. Creating third party billings in compliance with third party payer's rules and requirements. Calculating and/or posting various charges to student accounts and contract accounts; verifying third party payments and preparing payments for cashiers; establishing and maintaining records; creating spreadsheets and manipulating computer databases to compile and retrieve data; trouble shooting problems and implementing solutions.

Verifying charges, working closely with internal departments that pay students' tuition/fees in the form of departmental transfers or scholarships; interpreting and applying university, NCAA, state, federal, and SBOE policies and procedures relating to contract authorizations including monitoring departmental compliance to these policies and procedures; researching, resolving and correcting errors in contract processing; reconciling contract accounts; monitoring graduate assistants accounts for duplication of payment, refunding departments as needed, working with Veteran's advisors office in posting payments, waiving late fees and refunding VA as needed.

Key AccountabilityProvide exceptional customer service by:
Job Duties
Working with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the general public via phone, email, and in person to resolve problems and answer questions regarding A/R account balances, financial aid disbursement, fee assessment, registration confirmation, and university policies and procedures; providing detailed accounting of information related to owing balances.

Key AccountabilitySupport overall operation of the office by:
Job Duties
Developing, preparing and interpreting Banner Accounts Receivable reports requested by management; researching discrepancies in data and/or reporting methods and informing management of discrepancies; maintaining reporting data; participating in staff meetings and training sessions; providing support to other areas in the office when necessary.

Required Experience
Experience: with financial record keeping methods; researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports; monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors; interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs; analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues; dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in stressful situations; entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system; composing and proofreading business correspondence.

Required Education
High School degree or GED

Required Licensures, Certifications or other
Additional Preferred
Experience working in a college or university business office; familiarity with FERPA and UI policies and procedures; familiarity with rules and regulations pertaining to federal Title IV funds; experience with Accounts Receivable and collections; experience with Banner; college level accounting courses; experience working in a Financial Institution; experience working with a wide range of customers regarding sensitive information.

Skills: excellent math skills, ability to operate 10-key calculator (or computer keypad) accurately and quickly, proficiency in operating a PC. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently.
