University of New Mexico, Assistant Professor in Interdisciplinary Art. Probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision. 1.0 FTE. The new faculty member will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise MFA students, and serve on graduate committees when requested. Salary: $55,000. Start August 16, 2021. MINIMUM: M.F.A. in Studio Art with emphasis in Sculpture, New Media, Social Practice, or related fields. Active exhibition record utilizing interdisciplinary approaches. Two years cumulative university-level teaching experience as instructor of record after the M.F.A. PREFERRED: Demonstrated interest in contributing to a contemporary interdisciplinary setting in an atmosphere of close faculty-student mentoring. Conversant in contemporary issues of critical theory and aesthetics. Expertise and ability to teach two or more of the following: wood, metal, installation, fibers, digital fabrication, moldmaking/casting, small-scale metals. Ability to provide mentorship to graduate students across disciplines. Excellent communication skills and an interest in collaboration. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
