Position Summary
Assist Dallas College students in all aspects of the financial aid process and help ensure the institution receives financial aid funds in a timely fashion.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College
  • Ability to interpret, understand and apply comprehensive knowledge of innovative technology platforms related to and in support of the holistic student experience
  • Experience leading or managing major change initiatives including knowledge and skill in process improvement, project planning, conflict resolution, team building, customer service, and data-based decision-making concepts
  • Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of Dallas College’s current transition
  • Experience in operational planning, policy development, and outcome/needs assessment for student financial services
  • Ability to balance an analytical mind and a compassionate heart
  • Strong belief in the value of education coupled with the ability to manage structured regulatory requirements alongside the personal, human-centered experience
  • Expresses a professional and collaborative demeanor with a demonstrated ability to address and resolve conflicts with integrity and compassion, and that can actively develop effective relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, acquiring relevant information, using technology and other resources appropriately

  • Ability to utilize technology to access data, maintain records, and generate reports and communicate with others.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
Master’s degree or higher as confirmed by official transcripts

  • Three (3) years of experience in a higher education setting with demonstrated experience in student financial services

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administer all financial aid and scholarship programs (in collaboration with the Foundation) in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.

  • Assess student eligibility for financial assistance and authorize the disbursement of funds
  • Manage process for aid award appeals and review of special circumstances
  • Perform outreach duties; conduct Financial Aid workshops
  • Report on the utilization of student aid funds
  • Provide sensitive and confidential financial aid counseling to students and families regarding available aid options
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols to protect confidential data
  • Provide creative and energetic leadership in the development, execution, and ongoing improvement of student financial aid/resources practices and processes that embody the values and goals of Dallas College.
  • Maintain effective communication between students and faculty within the College and external community stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely follow-up is made with applicants as they move through the financial aid process
  • Deploy data-informed and results oriented financial aid programs (i.e. reduction of student default rate)
  • Assume overall responsibility for directing the activities of the personnel engaged in performing the functions of the assigned areas. Assess needs; supervise and coordinate development, implementation and evaluation of programs and associated staff.
  • Develop budgets; monitor and approve department expenditures
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and recommendations for overall programs; keep detailed records of assigned activities. Perform other duties as assigned
