In collaboration with the faculty and staff of the College and in full alignment with the UAA Strategic Plan and other plans and goals of the University, the Dean will bring vision, establish the broad goals and direction for the College, and lead the allocation of College resources among the various units and programs in fulfillment of those goals.

As a member of the UAA’s management team, the Dean participates in setting direction and advocating for the College within UAA, promoting the college as an active participant in, and a principal contributor to, the quality of life in the community.  They will help set and implement unit-level strategies to help achieve the University’s Strategic Plan (UAA 2025). Working with staff in University Advancement the Dean effectively represents the College and its programs to UAA and the larger community. Similarly, they engage with staff and faculty in seeking philanthropic support, and effectively steward College endowments, annual funds, and other gifts.

With five or more years of teaching and/or research experience in a college/university setting, candidates will possess experience in college-wide administrative roles spanning broad areas of Engineering at the program, associate dean, or similar level.  They will have demonstrated success with administration of both graduate and undergraduate education; demonstrated effective support and supervision of faculty and/or staff within an academic unit; demonstrated effective management of budgets and unit resources; and demonstrated success in fundraising is preferred.

Tenure at the rank of Professor from a regionally accredited university is preferred though a terminal degree and a combination of experience and qualifications sufficient to merit the award of tenure at the rank of Professor within a discipline represented in the College would be considered.
