The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty member at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication.

Summary:  This will be a full-time non-tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Communication Department beginning fall 2021.  To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a doctorate in Journalism/Public Relations, Mass Communication, or a closely related field is required. (ABD will be considered but the degree must be completed by the time of appointment.) Candidates with professional experience in the field will be given priority. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching writing for both print and digital media, as well as public relations.  This position will teach required courses, as determined by the Department Chair, as well as have the freedom to propose new courses that fit their expertise and interests. This position will teach courses such as news writing and reporting, feature writing, introductory and advanced public relations, and other specialized courses in both journalism and public relations.  In addition, the successful candidate will conduct related research, and provide service work such as academic advising in support of the Communication Department.
