The Director of HR Compliance is responsible for managing and identifying employment related compliance issues, developing compliance related policies implementing and communicating policies to the broader Miami community and identifying/correcting issues where Miami may be out of compliance.

Duties include and are limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance with HR policies and practices. Ensure compliance is achieved for HR policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state and local employment laws. Identifies potential risks and non-compliance issues and develop action plans to address them.
  • Assist Miami in developing, communicating and managing remote work policies including research into various state employment laws.
  • Work with the Office of General Counsel on work authorizations and other issues related to non-US citizen workers.
  • Manage the process to determine if work can be performed by an independent contractor or must be performed by an employee. Review all requests and communicate findings to requesting departments.
  • Drive compliance and integrate compliance objectives with business strategies by advising senior leaders, monitoring execution, educating and reinforcing labor and employment policies and practices and/or management/store operations.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in human resource management or Business Administration field with eight years of professional experience in a directly related field; Experience with employment related policies; Strong familiarity with local, state and national employment laws; Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and challenging timelines; Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills; Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Banner; Strong attention to detail in order to identify and correct risky policy/compliance practices. Position is not eligible for H1B sponsorship

Considerations may be given to individuals with a master’s degree in human resources or business administration and SHRM/HRCI certification.
