The research focus of the successful candidate is is expected to complement these existing strengths through a focus on combining intelligence with systems. The candidate is expected to generate fundable research in their chosen field, and to sustainably support graduate students.

In addition to teaching and research, the candidate will be expected to aid in curriculum development for the computer engineering technology major and provide technical depth to the EET program. Computer Engineering Technology is new as a major and our majors on robotics and mechatronics rely on it. As the EET program grows at our statewide locations, there will be an increased demand for these courses, in multiple formats. The candidate will need to participate in our graduate program, teaching new and existing classes, and mentoring graduate students in funded research at both the M.S. and Ph.D. levels.

The candidate is expected to interface with external clients, both commercial and governmental, and to establish relationships with companies looking for ways to engage with our students at all levels from undergraduate to PhD. This may take the form of mentoring senior capstone teams as well as graduate research.
