Butler University
Vice President, Human Resources
Butler University seeks a dynamic and proven human resources professional to serve as its next Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR). This is an exciting opportunity to lead Butler’s Division of Human Resources to new levels of strategic engagement, service-delivery, and collaboration with the entire Butler community. Success in the role requires an innovative leader with demonstrated experience driving strategic organizational change in a complex enterprise.
Butler University is a thriving private university located in Indianapolis, Indiana. A Midwest academic powerhouse, Butler’s mission is to provide the highest quality of liberal and professional education and to integrate the liberal arts with professional education, by creating and fostering a stimulating intellectual community built upon interactive dialogue and inquiry among students, faculty, and staff. Butler offers 60 major academic fields of study, 8 pre-professional programs, and 19 graduate programs in its six academic colleges: Arts, Business, Communication, Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Reporting to the university’s president, James Danko, the new VPHR will play a key role leading the transformation of Butler’s Human Resources (HR) division into a strategic, trusted campus partner that provides responsive policies, services, and programs for the Butler community. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other institutional leaders across the university, this person will be charged with developing and implementing a shared vision for HR at Butler; and providing inspirational leadership to an evolving team of HR professionals who are charged with providing responsive, and effective customer service at the highest levels. Additionally, this position will help provide campus-wide leadership in operationalizing the university’s commitment to the racial and ethnic diversification of the staff and faculty, and the furthering of existing efforts to perpetuate equitable and inclusive work environments, collaborating regularly with leadership in supporting affirmative and appropriate trainings, interventions, and accountability.

Company
With just over 5,000 students, we’re relatively small as far as universities go. That’s a good thing—it means classes are more personally engaging and professors are always available to help.
But in terms of opportunity, Butler University is about as big as it gets. Indianapolis is one of the largest and most dynamic cities in the Midwest. As residents, Butler students can plug right into the real-world through internships, co-ops, undergraduate research, public performances, and community partnerships. These experiences provide working knowledge and skills that students need to excel after college.
A career at Butler University means so much more than a job. Join the dedicated, innovative, and supportive community of faculty and staff that is moving Butler Beyond.
