Associate Professorship in the Political Economy of China
Department: Oxford School of Global and Area Studies in association with Lady Margaret Hall
Location: University of Oxford China Centre, Canterbury Road, Oxford OX2 6LU
Salary: £48,114 to £64,605 per annum (Grade 36S)
The Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA), in association with Lady Margaret Hall, seek to appoint an Associate Professor in the Political Economy of China from 1 September 2021. We invite applicants with expertise in China's Political Economy, the Economy of China, or Chinese Business and Finance.
You will be expected to teach and supervise at the graduate level, contribute to administration and examining, and act as a College Adviser for graduate students. The post will be held in conjunction with a Supernumerary Fellowship (non-stipendiary) at Lady Margaret Hall. You will engage actively in research to contribute through publication to the department's and University's international reputation for research excellence.
You should have received a doctorate in political economy, economics or a related field (including, for example, development studies, economic sociology, business and management studies or finance and public administration), with specialisation in China, by 1 September 2021. The successful candidate will demonstrate: research achievement at an international level appropriate to the stage of their career; the skills and commitment to contribute effectively to teaching, supervision and academic administration in the School; the ability to relate well to high-calibre students; and good communication, interpersonal, time management and organisational skills.
Appointments to Associate Professorships are confirmed as permanent on successful completion of a review during the first five years.
