Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The College of Health Professions welcomes applicants to apply to the position of Building and Operations Manager. The primary purpose of this position is to offer strategic management of daily operations within the building, and to oversee and coordinate administrative affairs as it relates to the position. The Building and Operations Manager will serve as a liaison between all departments of the College to offer administrative support in a timely, accurate and professional manner in accordance with University and College policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will use decision-making skills to resolve complex issues independently and will serve as a resource to all faculty and staff in the College.

Additional responsibilities include serving as project manager for building renovations and other projects, serving as the Fixed Assets/Surplus property manager, and serving as the purchasing officer for the Academic Technology unit and Dean’s Office.

Minimum Hiring Standards

• Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills as the position will work with individuals at all levels across the University

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, make quality decisions, prioritize multiple assignments and manage time efficiently

• Previous experience working with building management or facility renovation/refurbishing projects

• High School graduate

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred Hiring Standards

• Knowledge of fixed asset policies related to inventory management, surplus and accounting

• Knowledge of University building practices, regulations and policies

• Banner and eVA certification

• Bachelor’s degree
