Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry in Madison, WI, is seeking to recruit a new tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor level.

The Department of Psychiatry has identified schizophrenia as a critical area in which to promote research that will bring major advances to current knowledge about the origins and early phases of this mental health disorder. The Department seeks to create new knowledge about the causes and mechanisms of mental health problems in this population, and to discover new ways to both identify these problems earlier and intervene more effectively.

Research can be at any level including areas relevant to genetics, molecular, neurocircuit based approaches, or psychopharmacology. The UW Department of Psychiatry has strong research programs with outstanding facilities including a 3T MRI housed in the Lane Neuroimaging Laboratory located in the Department. UWSMPH along with the entire UW is a leader in translational biomedical research and offers many opportunities for collaboration with other departments.

Key university resources to support research in schizophrenia/psychotic disorders include the Health Emotions Research Institute (HERI), a world-class center with state-of-the-art capabilities for high-field, high-resolution imaging (Lane Neuroimaging Laboratory); strong collaborative relationships with faculty in world-renowned research departments and centers such as the Waisman Center; the Departments of Psychology, Neuroscience, Pediatrics, and Computer Sciences and Engineering; and the Center for Healthy Minds at UW.

-Position may have a blend of clinical, teaching, and research activities based on candidate interest and skills of the faculty member.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

-MD/DO/PHD Required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Completion of training in Psychiatry or Psychology.
-Demonstrated track record of successful research programs in the area of psychiatry/psychology appropriate to their career stage.

-Candidates for associate or full professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the tenure track.

License or Certificate:

-Wisconsin Medical License obtained by start date.
-DEA certifications obtained by start date.
-Credentialed with UW Health managed care plans, credentialing and staff privileges at UW Hospital, UnityPoint Health Meriter Hospital, and VA Middleton must be completed by start date.
