Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (HS Clinical, Clinical X) Director of Communication Education

The Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/vchs/) is committed to academic, scientific, and clinical excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for a Director of Communication Education (DCE).
The Director of Communication Education (DCE) works in collaboration with the Director of the Center for Compassionate Communication to achieve the missions of the Center and the TDSI. The DCE is responsible for designing curriculum and training learners to listen, be creative and incorporate humanism into their wellness and interpersonal communications. The DCE will assist in leveraging the UCSD communication curriculum to foster internal and national/international partnerships and collaborations.
Candidates will be expected to design, implement and teaches curriculum for clinicians and research faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, etc, focused on clear, compassionate communication. The Director of Communication Education will deliver communications coaching sessions as requested and design educational workshops and facilitation guides. Direct the development of educational videos, learning modules and outreach programs. The DCE will supervise Academic Technologist in the creation of all online learning materials.
Candidates must have a graduate degree in health related, communication or fine arts.
Preference will be given to candidates with proven faculty communication development expertise.
Successful applicants will hold a primary appointment in a UC San Diego department, with the department determined by mutual interest of candidate and department.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
