Assistant Professor of German in the Department of World Languages & Cultures

Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track position in German at the assistant professor level beginning February 2021. The position requires a PhD in German, SLA, Linguistics, or related discipline by February 2021, and native or near-native abilities in German and English.

Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to contribute to a dynamic and growing German program, a scholarly, SoTL-based approach to teaching, and an active disciplinary research agenda that translates well to an undergraduate setting.

Teaching will include beginning, intermediate, and advanced German, plus courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity, are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter. Elon is a dynamic private, co-educational, comprehensive institution that is a national model for actively engaging faculty and students in teaching and learning in a liberal arts based residential campus.  To learn more about Elon, please visit the University web site at www.elon.edu.

Please submit a CV, a description of your teaching philosophy, recent teaching evaluations, and contact information for three references. In your cover letter, please briefly describe the courses that you could envision teaching in the Elon Core Curriculum as well as in the German program.

Applications must be submitted electronically to germansearch2020@elon.edu by midnight Eastern on January 15, 2021.  Elon University is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse faculty, staff and student body and welcomes all applicants.
