The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2021.

The candidate will be expected to effectively teach a variety of Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics courses at every level of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, to advise and mentor students, to promote undergraduate research, and to engage in scholarship and professional service.

The Department encourages applications from all areas of mathematics and we are especially interested in candidates with strong applied mathematics specialties (examples include, Numerical Analysis, Data Science, Scientific Computing, Modeling and Simulation, and etc.).

The candidate must be able to communicate effectively through spoken, written, and visual media.

Salary and academic rank are commensurately depending on directly related education and experience level.
A Ph.D. is required for the Assistant Professor position. Candidates who are ABD could start at Instructor rank and salary, and move to Assistant Professor after successful completion of the Ph.D. An ABD, if hired, would be expected to complete the Ph.D. within one year of the official start date at UNC Pembroke.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be ABD in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field, and possess experience in teaching (preference will be given to candidates having teaching experience at a four-year college or university), exposure to undergraduate research in mathematics or statistics, and relevant on-going or planned publications.

The Search Committee will begin its formal review of candidates by 15th January 2021 and will continue its review until the position is filled. Candidates should attach a letter of interest, current vitae, copies of all transcripts, and a reference list.
