The New York University Division of Libraries is seeking 3-4 user-oriented adjunct librarians for Spring semester, 2021 and with potential for reappointment in the Summer and next academic year. As part of Research & Research Services, these adjuncts help provide services to our faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students, including virtual reference services, in-depth one-on-one virtual consultation services, virtual instruction as available, and special projects as needed. Adjuncts will work closely with our librarian liaison group, ensuring service hours coverage, meeting incoming requests, and communicating regularly with full-time librarians about activities and needs. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a background or experience in the fields of Education, Performing Arts or Performance Studies, Nursing, and STEM.

Appointments run from mid-January to the end of May, and will be from 10 to 20 hours/week, depending on availability. Candidates must be available for weekday, daytime service hours (Mon – Fri 9am – 6pm) for at least 10 hours of their full appointment. Hours are flexible based on availability.  Candidates will be asked to work remotely for the Spring 2021 semester, and must be able to work in the United States, and have dependable access to the internet.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • ALA accredited MLS/MLIS.
  • Experience in reference, virtual reference, or research consultation services.
  • Experience providing small or large group instruction in a library environment.
  • Comfort operating in a virtual environment with standard tools (eg Zoom, Meet, Teams).
  • Experience in a field or program relevant to NYU’s academic disciplines. 

Preferred  

  • Experience in the fields of Education, Performing Arts or Performance Studies, Nursing, and/or STEM.
  • Familiarity with NYU Library resources.

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience and background.
