The Department of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine is seeking a faculty colleague for a full-time General Pediatrician position with the Young Children’s Health Center. Salary and track will be commensurate with training and experience.
The UNM Young Children’s Health Center is a community-based clinic that has served children and families for over 35 years, prioritizing our service in the neighborhood where we reside, The International District of Albuquerque. We deliver comprehensive health care and integrated behavioral health services with a focus on providing trauma-informed care, seeking to address social determinants of health in a manner that is family-centered and strengths-based. In order to better serve these families, the staff is bilingual and trained in Trauma-Informed Care with a Strengths-Based perspective. Special components making our clinic unique include our home visitation program, behavioral health services, case management, school outreach programs, summer camps and our Neighboring program. Networking and collaboration with other community agencies and programs is a priority and strength of the clinic.
Provider responsibilities include maintaining a general pediatric panel for Well Child Care, as well as acute visits shared within the practice. Physicians are expected to take Ambulatory Call from home on evenings/weekends, approximately four weeks per year. Our clinic provides access on Saturdays and evenings which are covered on a rotating basis by providers. Physicians are also expected to precept resident continuity clinic and medical students on their pediatric clerkship on a regular weekly schedule. The incumbent will be encouraged to engage in both scholarly activities, as well as advocacy and community engagement initiatives. The incumbent will care for pediatric patients in an ethnically and medically diverse population, while working with a multidisciplinary team.
