Research Associate in Eye Organization

A full-time Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Professor Andrew C. Zelhof in the Department of Biology at Indiana University Bloomington. The project addresses a key question of evolutionary-developmental biology within the context of eyes: how are conserved cellular processes modified to produce adaptive transitions within the constraints of constructing a functional tissue? The successful candidate will investigate the molecular, developmental, and cellular mechanism responsible for photoreceptor organization across several species, invertebrates and vertebrate. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related field, though applicants with Master’s or Doctorate Degree will be considered, and previous research experience in both genetics (model organisms -e.g. Drosophila, Tribolium, Zebrafish) and molecular and cellular biology. This position requires a positive attitude and solid work ethic, as well as good communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a laboratory setting.
