Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU’s Grants and Contracts department is seeking a Team Manager to join their team. The Team Manager will manage a team of 3 employees assigned to federal and non-federal accounts for both the Academic and Health Sciences Campuses. The duties for this position includes:

•Responsible for moderately difficult analysis and accurately and timely billing, collecting, monitoring, and closing out accounts assigned to their individual portfolio and overall team’s portfolio.

•The department collaborates with administration, billing and reporting on a $275M research portfolio, which continues to increase in complexity in sponsor requirements and/or terms and conditions associated with sponsored awards.

Applies federal and state regulations which have significant impact on funding to the University.

•Assist management with running technical interim reports and reconciliations.

•Handles special projects for management and makes independent decisions to resolve problems that may arise in the team.

Minimum Hiring Standards

•Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field such as accounting, finance, business management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

•Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations related to grants.

•Excellent oral and written communication skills.

•Ability to organize work and establish reasonable priorities.

•Verifiable history of excellent past performance and attendance records.

•Technical proficiency is necessary including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint), and experience with both web-based and enterprise financial management/reporting systems.

•Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

•Experience in a university sponsored programs or grant accounting office post-award administrative setting.

•Extensive experience with Banner Financial System.
