The Department of Mathematics, Engineering, and Physics at Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Engineering to begin August 2021. Schreiner University has an existing 3-2 Engineering Program, and the successful candidate will be part of a cohort of faculty who will launch a new Engineering program with concentrations in Mechanical and Civil that will seek ABET accreditation. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to undergraduate education and leadership potential to develop and grow this new degree. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses at all levels of the engineering curriculum, including introductory engineering courses and upper-level courses in the applicant’s area of interest. A background in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred, but exceptional candidates in related fields may also be considered. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a productive scholarship program that provides opportunities for undergraduate student research compatible with resources available at a primarily undergraduate institution. Typical duties for the position include teaching 12 hours per semester; service to the university through committee work, serving in positions of leadership, and/or sponsorship of student organizations; establishing relationships with local industry to support Capstone projects; staying active in the pursuit of scholarly activity; and advising students both in pursuit of their degrees and in future career options. For the first 3 years, the candidate will occupy the Mayfield Endowed Chair, which will reduce the teaching load to 6 hours per semester, but with increased scholarly resources and expectations.

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Civil Engineering (or a related field) or ABD with completion no later than August 2021. Teaching experience is preferred.
