The University of Minnesota Crookston, one of five campuses comprising the University of Minnesota system, invites applications and nominations for a full-time, twelve-month appointment as Division Head for the Division of Business, Arts, and Education.

Position Vision

The Division Head for Business, Arts, and Education is a senior leader with academic dean duties who concurrently holds faculty rank within one of the academic departments of the division. The Division Head will effectively draw upon their knowledge, expertise, and experience to build on the access mission of the University of Minnesota Crookston as a land-grant university and strategically advance regional impact with an inclusive and equitable lens, and with a keen understanding of evolving context of Minnesota and surrounding states and provinces. The Division Head is responsible for the overall operations of the Departments of Business and of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education (HSSE) as well as the campus’s Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) and its dual-enrollment programs that annually serve approximately 1,000 high school students. Across these areas, the Division Head manages the professional, instructional, and scholarly activities of the faculty and staff and provides academic leadership in creating an inclusive and equitable vision for a dynamic regional campus of the University of Minnesota System. The new Division Head will support and enhance the success of all students including but not limited to students of color, LBGTQ students, and students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students from rural communities, students with disabilities, international students, undocumented students, non-traditional adult learners, military affiliated students, and English-language learners. 

  Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree or terminal degree in one’s academic discipline.
  • Professional achievement in teaching and scholarship commensurate with the rank of tenured associate professor within either the Business or the HSSE Department.
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competence, and achievement in working with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the land-grant mission of the University of Minnesota Crookston, especially as related to access and student success.
  • Evidence of leadership abilities, exceptional communication skills, and excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, student affairs educators, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional achievement in teaching and scholarship commensurate with the rank of tenured full professor.
  • Experience in college-level administration, new program development, and institutional (i.e., HLC) and program (e.g. ACBSP—Business, NAB—Health Management, PELSB—Education, POST—Criminal Justice) accreditation and/or licensure processes.
  • Experience administering online educational programs.
  • Experience in supervising and evaluating faculty and staff including union-represented faculty and staff.
  • Experience planning, managing, and evaluating complex budgets.
  • Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
