Assistant/Associate Professor of Instrumental Music (Trumpet)

Samford University’s Division of Music invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate  Professor  of  Instrumental  Music  (Trumpet), a 9-month, Tenure-Track position, to begin August 2021.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have earned at least a master’s degree in music from an institutionally accredited university and  extensive professional experience.  The successful candidate will have a specialty in trumpet and a secondary strength in music education or commercial music.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach applied trumpet to undergraduate and graduate students and develop an outstanding trumpet studio.  A commitment to academic excellence, institutional service, and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and colleagues is expected.  The candidate should embrace the mission and vision of Samford University and contribute to the interdisciplinary character of the School of the Arts as showcased by our Catalyst curriculum.  Additional responsibilities will be based upon the candidate’s strengths and university need.  Faculty are expected to engage in nationally recognized creative professional practice and/or other forms of scholarship in the field of twenty-first century music. The candidate should embrace the mission and vision of the School of the Arts and the Division of Music.

Compensation and academic rank are dependent upon academic qualifications and previous academic and practitioner experiences.
