Job Description:

This position requires a passion for effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will teach occupational skills and knowledge to provide students with the competence to become skilled in their field; demonstrate occupational materials, tools, equipment, and processes using standard or instructor-prepared instructional aides; instruct students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools and equipment; control the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse; and establish and maintain standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom. Additionally, the instructor will recruit eligible students; coordinate student credentialing efforts; assist with determining appropriate program specific learning outcomes; participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes; and collaborate with administrators to strengthen program advisory committees. There is the possibility of multiple campus assignments including day or evening teaching assignments. This position reports to the Director, Workforce Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an associate degree; or certificate in HVAC and three years trade experience; or six years of trade experience; proficiency with installation and repair on various types of commercial and residential air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration units; working knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC, building code requirements, OSHA and EPA regulations, and job site safety are required. The successful results of a criminal background check are required.
