About the Opportunity:
Academic Advising position in the College of Arts Media and Design.

Responsibilities:
The main mission of the Academic Advisor is to ensure a student-centered
advising environment for students in specified departments in the college. As members of the undergraduate advising team in the college, the academic advisors work closely with each other under the direct supervision of the Director of Academic Advising to: advise undergraduate students on a wide range of academic issues starting in their first year and continuing through graduation; maintain accurate advising and student records; and coordinate various student services related projects aimed at providing academic support and information to students. In addition, advisors work in partnership with faculty mentors and chairs in their academic departments to develop advising support initiatives that will enhance the quality of students' academic experience and increase retention of students.

Qualifications:
To qualify, candidate must have a Master's degree in an arts or education-related field, and direct academic advising experience. At least 2 years of experience in higher education preferred, inclusive of graduate internship or practicum experience.
Candidate must have strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills. Have general computer skills, be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and have experience using databases is required. Ability to learn and effectively utilize the college and university-level systems, degree audit and other computer systems in day- to-day advising is necessary.
Candidate must be able to work well with a wide range of personalities, juggle many activities simultaneously, take initiative, work independently, be detail-oriented and follow through with projects. Ability to work as an integral member of a team is critical.
