The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of Theatrical Lighting/New Media Design, Production and Events Management. 

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Theatre Arts Department alongside the College of Arts and Humanities is seeking to hire an Academic Instructional Staff position in Theatrical Lighting/New Media Design, Production and Events Management. This position is also responsible for the events management of the Regional Center for the Arts and Humanities/RITA. The candidate will also be responsible for teaching two academic courses a year in theatrical lighting/projection design, computer aided drafting and providing designs for productions in the Theatre Arts Department. The department places a high value on teaching and modeling professionalism through our company model. This individual will be involved in additional supervision and mentoring of students in production work and will contribute as a Theatre Arts Company member.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  Theatre Design and Production

  • Design two productions a year in the area of Lighting and New Media Design.
  • Assist in the execution of the design work prepared by the candidate.
  • Serve as the company Production Manager by assisting with the assignments and scheduling of backstage crews, strike crews, and technical rehearsals.
  • Work with the department chair to develop the yearly production calendar
  • Participation in weekly department and production meetings, as well as monthly company meetings.

Events Manager of the Rita Tallent Picken Center for the Arts and Humanities

  • Setup, Management, and Strike for campus and outside rental events.
  • Supervision of staff assistants
  • Develop and recommend long-range plans, objectives, and facility needs for the RITA

Teaching

  • Teach two academic courses per year in the Theatre Arts Department in the areas of Lighting, New Media Design, and Computer Aided Drafting.
  • Mentor student designers and technicians in the production process.
  • Career advising and mentorship of students
  • Participate in annual academic and artistic assessments of company members

Essential Knowledge And Abilities

The candidate must have extensive knowledge in the areas of theatrical lighting and projection technologies, equipment, and software. Including supplementary knowledge with new media design and technology such as video, live streaming, and editing software. The candidate must prove professional theatrical lighting design experience and knowledge and experience in the area of project/production management.
