Assistant Professor of Music Education - Instrumental (Band)

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month tenure track Assistant Professor of Music Education – Instrumental (Band) faculty position beginning August 2021.

 

Job responsibilities will include teaching appropriate courses in the music education

sequence, supervising student teachers, and conduct university ensembles as needed. Additional responsibilities, as prescribed, will be based on the candidate’s strengths and academic needs of the School of Music. The School of Music is interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching, performing, and mentoring. The candidate will serve as part of a collaborative music education team with specialists in band, choir, orchestra, general music, and research.

 

Required qualifications include:

 

  • Completion of an earned terminal degree in the field of music education (Ph.D., Ed.D.,

D.M.A. or foreign equivalent).

  • A minimum of 3 years of K-12 public school teaching (band) at the middle and/or high school levels.
  • A record of excellence in teaching instrumental music (band) with expertise ranging from beginning to advanced level pedagogy.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

The qualified candidate for the Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education will possess substantial knowledge of trends in the field of music education and public education, including instrumental pedagogy, educational literature and technology, and inclusive practices in the classroom. The qualified candidate should demonstrate evidence of scholarly contributions to the field of music education through publications, presentations, and/or conducting, and demonstrate a record of community engagement and service to the profession.
