Engineering Technology (Middletown): Assistant Professor (tenure-track) with possible James A. Myers Endowed Professorship to teach in area of engineering technology; to maintain an active research agenda; advise students; and provide service to the institution. Courses to be taught include but are not limited to robotics, robotics labs, integrated robotic systems, mechanical systems, controls, PLC’s, process control, mechanisms, computer-aided drafting and design, manufacturing, and solid modeling. Position begins August 2021.

The department offers ABET/ETAC accredited bachelor’s completion degree programs with concentrations in Electrical and Computer, Mechanical, and Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, and associate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology. In addition, the department is starting a new bachelor’s completion degree in Robotics Engineering Technology. This position is critical to the success of this new program.

Required: Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, or related field. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to develop and design new courses and laboratories in Robotics Engineering Technology; have experience designing, building, programming, and operating industrial robots; demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; have demonstrated proficiency in the use of 2D and 3D modeling software, 3D-printing, and programming languages including C, C++, MATLAB, and Python for synthesis and application of robot systems; have experience in computer vision, machine intelligence, embedded systems design, and/or artificial intelligence with application in robotics.

Desired: Consideration may be given to candidates with post-secondary teaching experience; a Professional Engineering License; technologically current work experience in the fields of robotics, industrial automation and control systems. The successful candidate must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
