Job Description
Supervises the operations of the School of Nursing (SON), plans and implements procedures and policies, oversees staff, and monitors operations to ensure that the SON maintains maximum efficiency.
Financial
Prepares, manages, and coordinates the SON state, local,
foundation, and grant account budgets and financial reports, for
Flagstaff and all distance sites, ensuring compliance with
university, state, local and federal regulations and
requirements.
Helps or guides determination and approval of appropriate funding
sources for SON expenditures, predicting resource needs and
developing long range plans.
Authorizes and approves requests for purchasing, travel payments
and other expenditures.
Works with grant PIs and other university areas to ensure accurate
budget proposals and proper and timely expenditures on all grants.
Creates and maintains grant records.
Reviews and approves all SON faculty HRSA requests in HRSA.gov for
loan repayment at the department level.
Human Resources
Works with the CHHS Dean’s office to request, search, waive, or
otherwise process all faculty hires; submits requests and
information to the HR service team to onboard new hires.
Supervises, trains and supports SON staff at the Flagstaff and all
statewide campuses.
Prepares and maintains all SON personnel records for
classification, recruiting and new hire actions, interviewing and
selecting new staff, employee grievances, ensuring compliance with
all university and affirmative action policies.
Serves as HR liaison for the SON.
Serves as concierge for personnel-related issues.
Works with the Administrative Associate to ensure supervision and
oversight of student employees. Aids the Administrative Associate
in the oversight of the submission and approvals of online
bi-weekly time slips. Submits off cycle check requests as
needed.
Oversees, maintains, and generates reports for non-exempt time
slips and leave reporting for all SON staff.
General
Works with Director, Associate Director and Program Coordinators
(Flagstaff, Tuscon, Yuma, AIP, FNP, DNP, MS and CEP/RN-BSN) to
advertise programs in various local and national
publications.
Serves as building manager ensuring building integrity and requests
to Facility Services are submitted and completed as needed.
Provides backup support to Administrative Assistant for all IT /
telecommunications and service ticket submissions.
Represents the SON at university or outside meetings or
conferences.
In coordination with the Director and Associate Director, develops
and aids in the interpretation and implementation of SON rules,
regulations, policies and procedures.
Works with University Marketing on all SON marketing materials.
Oversees the SON webpage and supervises the student workers
responsible for making changes. Oversees the SON Facebook
page.
Serves as SON liasion for Student and departmental accounts for all
student group and student billing.
Works with Financial Aid and the NAU Foundation to process
scholarships and other expense items. Coordinates and manages
nursing scholarships in coordination with the SON scholarship
committee. Initiates and approves paperwork for the numerous
scholarship award recipients.
Reviews, tracks, and enters class schedules for all faculty
assignments. Works with extended campuses on extended campuses SON
part-time faculty pay amounts. Submits requests for all SON
non-extended campuses pay. Sends out semester teaching contract
letters to all part-time faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field.
2 years of management or supervisory experience.
4 years of progressive coordination experience.
Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or
education approved by Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related field.
Experience with PeopleSoft.
Experience with budgeting and accounting.
Experience working in higher education.
