Mathematics Lecturer

Position Summary 

Fort Lewis College is seeking qualified applicants to teach college courses in mathematics.  

Minimum Qualifications 

• Master’s Degree in Mathematics or a closely related field.  
• Minimum of 18 credits of mathematics courses at the graduate level.  
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching.  

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as excellent interpersonal and 

communication skills.  

• Good organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks within strict timelines.  
• Familiarity and/or willingness to work with Excel and Office 365 cloud functionalities.  
•  Familiarity and/or willingness to work with LaTeX, WeBWorK, Canvas, or other typesetting,  

online homework, and online course platforms.  

• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships across academic units and with 

other offices on campus.  

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience teaching College Algebra, Precalculus, Statistics.  

• Experience teaching underrepresented populations.  

Major Responsibilities 

• Teach 24 credit hours per academic year (6 – 8 courses per year), course assignments include 

College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and Statistics depending on experience.  Teaching includes preparing class and evaluation materials, delivering lectures, grading, and being available for student questions.    

• Work in drop-in tutor room.  

• Collaborate with other instructors teaching common courses.  
• Aid with development of course materials.   
• Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as  

working with broadly diverse communities.  

• Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with  

Disabilities Act and Section 508.  

• Produce and remediate digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.  
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation  

Salary is $40,000 for a 9-month term, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
