Assistant Director of Bands and Lecturer of Music

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track Assistant Director of Bands and Lecturer of Music faculty position beginning July 2021.

 

Responsibilities require teaching, scholarship, and service to the University. Duties will include serving as the Assistant Director for the KSU Marching Band supporting logistical, educational, and service elements with the Director of Athletic Bands. This position will coordinate and direct the Basketball Band, teach courses in Music Education as prescribed, including supervision of student teachers throughout the course of the academic year, and conduct university ensembles as needed. Additional responsibilities as prescribed will be based on the candidate’s strengths and academic needs of the School of Music. The School of Music is interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching, performing and mentoring.

 

An earned Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, is required in music with extensive experience in music education, marching band, and concert ensembles at the secondary school and/or university level.

 

Preferred qualifications include writing and teaching drill; arranging music for bands.
