The Communication Division at the Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at Pepperdine University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant or associate professor rank in Screen Arts beginning August 1, 2021. Seaver College is a residential Christian liberal arts college of approximately 3,400 students situated in Malibu, California.
The successful candidate will teach intermediate and advanced production courses, supervise co-curricular student productions, and provide academic leadership in the major. Applicants should have teaching experience in two or more of the following: directing, editing, cinematography, law, visual effects, documentary, narrative filmmaking, or TV/Web production. We seek a colleague who understands the role of faith and the liberal arts in training good storytellers with the foundational skills to enter media industries. Seaver College values innovative teaching, faculty/student mentorship, an established record of peer reviewed research or creative production, and support for the university's Christian mission and liberal arts tradition. Applicants should reflect on their active participation in a community of faith when describing their response to the Seaver College Mission. Experience with institutional assessment and curriculum development is preferable. A Ph.D. or terminal degree in Media, Communication, or a related field must be earned by August 1, 2021 when the position officially begins.
