Western Michigan University invites applications and nominations for two (2) Assistant or Associate Professor positions in the WMU Bronson School of Nursing (BSON).  The positions are both tenure track, academic year (9-month) appointments. 

 

Major Responsibilities:  Faculty are required to teach didactic and clinical courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs; demonstrate ability to seek external funding for research or special projects*; sustained productivity and growth in research and grant writing*; demonstrate scholarly productivity through publications*; demonstrate regional, national/international reputation in area of expertise; contribute to an interdisciplinary environment of research, instruction and community collaborations; contribute to the missions of the School, College and University; service to the Department, the University, the profession and the community.

 

Qualifications:  Earned research doctorate (PhD) in nursing or related field by August 1, 2021; earned DNP* degree by August 1, 2021 will be considered on an individual basis; graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution; Registered Nurse License with eligibility for MI license; evidence of technological literacy and on-line instruction preferred; demonstration of potential to maintain an active program of scholarly research and grant writing related to field of expertise; evidence of global engagement preferred; teaching experience in a nursing baccalaureate program is preferred; to be considered for Associate Professor rank, the candidate would need to meet additional requirements as outlined in the BSON Department Policy Statement and the current Western/WMU-AAUP Agreement.

 

The College:  The College of Health and Human Services is located in a 195,000 square foot building with state-of-the-art teaching technologies and spacious research laboratories. The college enrolls almost 3,000 students, with more than a third of those at the graduate level. In addition to the WMU Bronson School of Nursing, the college includes programs in blindness and low vision studies, occupational therapy, physician assistant, social work, speech, language and hearing sciences, holistic health care, alcohol and drug abuse, interdisciplinary health services, public health, doctor of physical therapy and a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary health sciences. The college has received a number of grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Department of Education. The School:  The WMU Bronson School of Nursing is a vibrant school that focuses on the scholarship of teaching, research, and service.  In addition to the Director of the Bronson School of Nursing, over 20 full-time faculty and 25-30 part-time faculty provide instruction and experiences for prelicensure, Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN), and Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) students.  The total enrollment includes approximately 390 undergraduate students and a cohort of MSN students. The WMU Bronson School of Nursing is granted full approval by the Michigan Board of Nursing.  The undergraduate and graduate programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).  The WMU Bronson School of Nursing is one of the few nursing schools to receive endorsement from the American Holistic Nursing Certification Corporation. 

 

Salary:  Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, with an excellent benefits package.
