This non-tenure track full-time faculty position will be filled at the instructor, assistant or associate professor level, dependent upon qualifications. The faculty member will be responsible for curricular and teaching responsibilities within the College of Medicine and the College of Graduate Studies in an appropriate academic Department. The position requires understanding and oversight of curriculum content, evaluation and performance outcomes.

The successful applicant will take on the role of Program Director (PD) for NEOMED’s College of Graduate Studies program entitled Master of Medical Science in Anesthesia (MMSc-A). This graduate program will prepare and train students in the science and practice of anesthesia to be qualified as Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs). Program Directors are responsible for the oversight of all aspects of their graduate program. The role must demonstrate a strong commitment to education. PDs serve as the primary point of contact for academic matters concerning their graduate program. In addition to the role of program director, this position would also be dedicated to teaching and student mentorship in the MMSC-A program.

Principal Functional Responsibilities
1) Administrative: (Program Director)
• Collaborate with Course Directors, and curricular governance regarding identified areas of curricular content
• Provide academic leadership for the Program
• Supervise and mentor staff and faculty associated with the Master of Medical Science in Anesthesia program
• Understand accreditation standards relevant to the program and ensure standards are adhered to
• Adhere to curricular governance policies and procedures for teaching and course leadership. Orient and ensure adherence to standards by program faculty
• Organize, administer, continuously review, plan, and develop processes that ensure effectiveness of didactic education in the program
• Represent the program on all related academic committees
• Oversee Program design and support (including budget)
• Ensure continuous quality improvement related to program design and delivery
• Provide orientation and faculty development opportunities to address teaching and learning needs for self and program faculty
• Collaborate with clinical faculty to ensure course content is grounded in both medical and basic sciences
• Provide mentorship and academic advisement to students
2) Teaching:
Participate in graduate student education based on areas of expertise. Contribute to the following:
• Develop and implement curricula using appropriate learning strategies and educational pedagogy
• Deliver basic and clinical sciences content using innovative and effective techniques to engage students and enhance learning
• Collaborate with the course directors to: link session content to established course objectives, identify curricular deficiencies and modify content accordingly, participate in activities that assure courses are horizontally and vertically integrated and aligned with program accreditation standards, understand and incorporate educational best practices as well as national standards for all teaching and learning activities
• Ensure that continuous and competent educational guidance is provided, so that the didactic demands placed by the clinical educational environment are adequately addressed by classroom curriculum design.
• Oversee and ensure clinical education meets the program standards related to:
a) supervised clinical instruction meets current standards of acceptable practice
b) students in this Anesthesiologist Assistant training program learning, developing, and practicing the knowledge and skills essential to successful professional interactions with physicians in the medical workplace
• Perform instructional duties as assigned in support of the program.
3) Service:
• Support and actively participate in the mission of the Colleges and University. Serve on committees of the Colleges and University as deemed appropriate. Provides service to the profession.
4) Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education/Degrees:
• Graduate degree required from a regionally accredited institution in the discipline to be taught
• Recent Practice Experience
• Current NCCAA certification
• Eligible for Licensure as an AA in Ohio

Experience:
• Academic leadership experience in a university setting or equivalent professional leadership in a clinical role
• Teaching experience in a university setting.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Personal Characteristics:
• Evidence of teaching expertise including student feedback/evaluations, if available
• Demonstratable experience with simulation training of allied health trainees.
• Demonstratable teaching skills in one on one, small group and large group instruction
• Understanding of and/or interest in current approaches to medical education and student assessment
• Willingness to collaborate with faculty across disciplines and promote integrative learning
• Ability to conduct and publish high quality scholarship
• Ability to work with groups/individuals with diverse backgrounds
