The Janet Prindle

As the Schaenen Scholar, the successful candidate will teach

of expertise.
We seek a scholar or artist with strong interest, expertise, and
record of accomplishment and/or promise in ethics through the lens
of any discipline. While we are looking for an excellent candidate
that focuses on any area related to ethics, The Prindle Institute
for Ethics has an interest in candidates who specialize in
philosophy/ethics of race, business ethics, ethics and leadership,
philosophy/ethics for children, or bioethics. We are also
particularly interested in candidates with a passion for engaging
the general public in their areas of expertise.
Successful candidates will be passionate about the teaching and study of ethics in the liberal arts undergraduate curriculum, and will have a terminal degree in their field.
The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics provides a compelling physical space and a distinctive forum for DePauw students, faculty, and staff that fosters ethics education, research, and dialogue. The Institute also has a national outreach mission to encourage everyone to think more deliberately about ethics and the critical issues of our time.
We hope the successful candidate gains at least two benefits: to
have time and resources to work on their own research project and
to develop the skills and understanding to either start an ethics
center/program at their home institution or take on a leadership
role at an existing ethics institute or center.
