Position Qualifications

Purdue University Northwest’s Department of Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Social Work, to be assigned to our Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited BA in Social Work program. The position is to begin in August 2021. Rank is dependent upon experience and qualifications. Candidates must be able to perform high quality teaching, scholarship and service, and they must demonstrate commitment to promoting diversity and social justice in their role as faculty member. Areas of specialization are open. Successful candidates will be able to teach introductory and other foundational social work courses.

Guided by a liberal arts-based education and cohesive curriculum, the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work Program at Purdue University Northwest operates within the land-grant tradition of democracy, inclusiveness, and accessibility. Position Requirements

  • Earned PhD in Social Work or a closely related field (ABDs expected to earn a PhD by August 15, 2021 will also be considered.)
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Two years post-MSW practice experience

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Higher education teaching experience
  • Program development and leadership experience

Donald Exoneration Advisory Coalition to support those who have been wrongfully convicted in the state of Indiana.

Department of Behavioral Sciences Profile

Behavioral Sciences is a vibrant department with several programs and opportunities for collaboration. In addition to Social Work, we offer undergraduate majors in Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Human Development and Family Studies, and Sociology and a graduate program in Couple and Family Therapy. The department also houses the Couple and Family Therapy Center, which is located in the PNW Indianapolis Boulevard Counseling Center. Our students are primarily first-generation college students. In support of the University’s Strategic Plan, the Department is committed to recruiting and retaining diverse faculty and staff who foster diverse learning environments for students.
