Database Manager, Centers for Civic Impact

General Summary/Purpose

The Centers for Civic Impact is searching for a database manager to join our rapidly growing team. The Centers work with governments and NGOs, from small cities to Federal agencies, in a vast and growing array of modalities in order to promote the use of data and evidence for improved decision making. While we largely think about our work at the organization level, governments are made up of people. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who will help us better understand who we work with, how we work with them, and how we should work with them in the future.

Data Analyst reports to the Centers for Civic Impact Technology Officer.

Civic Impact is committed to working with communities that are focused on ending legacies of structural, entrenched racism and oppression. Our database manager must be willing to think about reimagined government, knowledge, and engagement models through the lens of dismantling these legacies.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage our individual and organizational relationships with Hubspot, our CRM
  • Support integration of new and existing data sources into GovEx Works, our proprietary organizational database
  • In collaboration with GovEx Academy and the Civic Impact Monitoring & Evaluation team (M&E), track participants based on Civic Impact developed personas aligning to different responsibilities, backgrounds, experiences, and goals
  • Discover client disengagement and work with the organization to improve and to track the success of engagement strategies
  • Perform and oversee standard operating procedures for data entry in Hubspot, including demographic data with the goal of providing current, consistent, and accurate data
  • Create and maintain a user manual for the CRM, in coordination with Civic Impact’s Technology team, which leads to consistent data management, entry, coding, and processing
  • Ensure the data housed in GovEx Works and published on Civic Impact-managed websites meets accuracy standards set by M&E
  • Develop data queries which support the work of M&E and Centers’ Directors
  • Routinely review participation data for accuracy and to monitor trends to help Civic Impact achieve its grant deliverables and business goals
  • Support data-related troubleshooting on Civic Impact-managed websites

Minimum Qualifications(Required)

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) years of related experience

Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by theJHU Equivalency Formula:18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job. *

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience using Hubspot or a similar CRM, as well as a database manager, business analyst, or related position
  • Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Slack

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • Organized and detail oriented self starter
  • Comfortable handling multiple priorities and work streams in a fast paced working environment
  • Solutions minded with analytical problem solving skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, particularly TalentLMS
  • Programming skills, such as python or R
  • Excellent written, presentation, and research skills
  • Commitment to a collegial workplace
  • Capacity to work independently and in a result-oriented work environment
  • Direct in-government experience or familiarity with government partners is preferred

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
