Overview
Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), ranked 264 globally in the QS
World University Rankings (QSWUR2021) and top 75 in THE Asia
University Rankings (2020), has defined six interdisciplinary
research laboratories to enable academics from different

contribute to the positioning of this dynamic and globally oriented
University as a research-led liberal arts institution of worldwide
significance.
Details of the six interdisciplinary research labs can be found on
the HKBU Research website at:

One of the six new Labs, the Smart Society Lab, is the first Smart
Society hub in Asia. Our Hong Kong modality affords intimate
access to the Greater Bay Area and southern China, while
benefitting from our long-standing connections with corporate,
public, academic, and philanthropic partners near and far.
The Lab aims to serve as a think tank for smart society innovation
across the region by leveraging comparative advantage through its
hub and spoke academic ecosystem.

recruiting five first-class computational social scientists in a
broad range application domain of social science including but not
limited to:
1. Urban Development
2. Population Health and Wellbeing

5. Social Resilience
Colleagues recruited will have access to seed money and appropriate
research facilities/support, as well as a generous array of
competitive research funding from Hong Kong’s Research Grants

Interested candidates should have relevant expertise, a proven
research record, and the readiness to contribute to an
