Gannon University, a Catholic university, invites applications for
the Assistant Director, Recreation and Wellness Center. The
Recreation and Wellness Center is a 220,000 ft2 multifunctional
building which houses Campus Recreation, Wellness, Athletics, and
academic lab spaces. The facility welcomed a $14.5 million addition
which opened in 2014 and consists of 3
basketball/volleyball/pickleball courts, an 80-yard indoor
fieldhouse, a 25-yard indoor pool, 2100 ft2 of cardo space, 5600
ft2 of strength space, 3 separate group fitness studios, and much
more. Responsibilities: leading, implementing, administering and
evaluating comprehensive fitness and personal training programs
within the Recreation and Wellness Center; develop and implement a
plan for small group engagement opportunities through fitness and
wellness; advancing the department's mission by providing
innovative vision, strategic planning, and knowledge of
professional research and national trends, evidence-based student
development practice, and developing student leadership models. The
position will report to the Director, Recreation and Wellness
Center in order to achieve dynamic goals and objectives focused on
service, wellness, leadership and globalization. Qualifications
include Master's degree in recreation, exercise science, public
health, health promotions, business, or related field and minimum
two years of experience in the fitness management field. Must be
familiar with a variety of fitness concepts, practices, and
procedures, and maintain a national fitness certificate in the
areas of teaching and training expertise. Must have professional
work experience in leading fitness program in a University setting;
experience in Campus Recreation and leadership development
programming preferred; strong leadership and organizational skills;
and a working knowledge of fitness programming, personal training
and student leadership development. Must have or be able to obtain
Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor certification. National
certifications in the areas of fitness, group exercise/and or
personal training from ACE, AFFA, ACSM or NSCA are preferred.
