Director, Faculty Affairs

Job Summary
The Director of Faculty Affairs is responsible for supervising Faculty Affairs staff members and overseeing the administration of Faculty Affairs processes and procedures for faculty, teaching associates, graduate assistants, instructional student assistants, and academic administrators.
Key Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include recruitment, appointments, compensation, evaluations, separations, and faculty additional employment. The Director ensures compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements and all CSU and campus policies and procedures. The incumbent independently plans, researches, implements, and provides solutions for Faculty Affairs business practices. Serves as a primary liaison in Faculty Affairs for the Chancellor's Office, colleges, and departments on issues related to compensation, personnel processes, practices, and campus policies and procedures. Delivers workshops and training.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement policies
relative to the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills to manage and set
priorities for support staff, and oversee progress towards
individual and office goals.
- Ability to effectively represent Academic Affairs with other
University units.
- Knowledge in the use of computer technology to manage workflow
and run day-to-day operations effectively.
- Ability to investigate, analyze, and anticipate problems and
address them proactively.
- Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize,
coordinate, and perform work in high-impact situations where
sensitive and diverse demands are involved.
- Skill in the research, development, and evaluation of policies,
including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation
of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate
recommendations.
- Thorough knowledge of Faculty policies and procedures and the
ability to use the PeopleSoft HR system to enhance the performance
of the operations of the department preferred.
- Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally
diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university
policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to
safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination
policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive
university experience for each and every student, and assist in
achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of
excellence."
Education and Experience
Advanced degree from an accredited university in human resources management, public administration, business administration, organizational planning/policy or related field. Seven years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management in an organization with complex HR systems and unionized setting. Preferred experience with overseeing Faculty Affairs processes for faculty and staff in a public institution of higher education or a government agency. Minimum of five years management experience required.

Estimated $110,000 to $120,000 per year based on education and related experience.
