About the Opportunity:
The Division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Business Intelligence (BI) Database Developer. The BI Database Developer will be a dedicated member of the Business Intelligence and Analytics Team within the larger ITS organization. The role has two primary responsibilities. First is the continued expansion and administration of the university's Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). In this role, the BI Database Developer will work closely with members of the BI & Analytics team to define and implement new data marts and analytic structures to support reporting and analytic needs across the university. This includes the design of dimensionally modeled data marts, database views, and development of complex ETL/data integration software using technologies such as SSIS and stored procedures. Secondarily, the BI Database Developer will serve as the primary resource for ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the EDW. This includes administrative activities such as database object and SSIS migrations, performance tuning, incident resolution, and user management.
The ideal candidate has some experience working in hybrid-cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure. While we currently have deployed on on-premises EDW and analytics environment, it is the objective of the Business Intelligence and Analytics team to develop and implement a cloud strategy that enables scale across data platforms and BI/AI/ML applications.
To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee may be required to work outside his/her regular working hours and on some university holidays.

Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related and 5+ years' experience with data architecture, data lakes, and data warehousing
- Advanced understanding of MS SQL Server, including stored procedures and SSIS integrations
- Expertise with MS SQL Server / Administration
- Working experience with data integration procedures to load data from transactional systems to a reporting database or data warehouse. Experience with SSIS is required, Informatica PowerCenter a plus.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to learn and apply new technologies. Understanding of data visualization, AI, and Machine Learning technologies a plus.
- Understanding of data warehouse best practices and methodologies, including Kimball, Inmon, etc.
- Experience designing and implementing dimensional models, OLAP cubes, and other analytic database objects
- Experience with one or more industry leading BI applications such as Cognos, BusinessObjects, or OBIEE required
- Understanding of cloud-based data warehousing platforms, such as Azure, AWS, etc.
- Operation or process-oriented approach to projects and tasks, completes tasks in a consistent, reliable, repeatable manner.
- Experience effectively interacting with end-users, partners or customers required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A sense of urgency to address client requests effectively and quickly. Ability to work independently and be on-call when needed.
