The School of Nursing in the Waters College of Health Professions invites applications and nominations for two Assistant Professor of Nursing positions. We seek outstanding educators and scholars with clinical experience in one of the following areas: Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing; Pediatrics; Medical-Surgical Nursing; Simulation. The home campus for both positions will be the Armstrong campus in Savannah, Georgia; however, assignments may require travel to the other campuses.

Georgia Southern University was founded in 1906 as a school for teaching modern agricultural production techniques and homemaking skills to rural school children. Its Savannah campus was established in 1935 as Armstrong Junior College for local youth who could not afford to attend college away from home. The Liberty Center in Hinesville was established in 1998 to serve the military and their families at nearby Fort Stewart, the largest military base east of the Mississippi. All three locations came together in 2018 when Armstrong State University and Georgia Southern University consolidated. The new Waters College of Health Professions building on the Armstrong campus will facilitate exciting opportunities for growth in pre-licensure and graduate nursing programs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in charting a new course for nursing education at Georgia Southern University through course and program development, innovative instruction, and formulating academic partnerships that will provide student with state-of-the-art learning experiences.

Position Description. Reporting to the Chair of the School of Nursing, the responsibilities of the Assistant Professor position includes: didactic and clinical instruction in undergraduate and/or graduate courses; demonstration of continuing professional growth and scholarly development; participation in student advising and success; participation in ongoing program and maintenance of expertise in areas of responsibility; participation in service in departmental, college, and university committees and initiatives. These positions are academic (9/10 month), tenure-track appointments, and the salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualification and experience.

Required Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in nursing, or a closely related field, by August 1, 2021.
• Must have an active unencumbered RN licensure in Georgia by August 1, 2021.
• Nurse Practitioner applicants must have certification and licensure as a nurse practitioner.
• Promise of productive scholarship consistent with the teacher scholar model, including grant writing.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and learning that is consistent with the college's priorities for the school and the mission of the University.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Technological literacy and a commitment to integrate technology into teaching and scholarship.
• Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
• Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring and curriculum design and development.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous teaching experience at the university level and baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing education.
• Experience in online instruction and development.
• Experience in high fidelity human simulation.
• Experience working with a diverse student body.
