Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach/Equipment Coordinator

Job Description

Missouri Western State University is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach/Equipment Coordinator. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach provides instruction in weight training and conditioning for all athletic teams, as assigned by the director of sports performance, and is responsible for coordinating equipment room operations.

Missouri Western is an NCAA Division II institution, which successfully competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association ( MIAA ) in 16 sports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
•Assists director in development of athletic performance training programs for athletic teams
•Instructs and monitors proper resistance training exercise technique and speed development
•Testing and evaluating physical performance
•Overseeing Athletic Performance operations assigned by director
•Overseeing general maintenance of weight facility and equipment
•Responsible for coordinating equipment room operations (e.g. supervisor of student employees, inventory/budget oversight and football game duties including practice preparation).
•Performs other duties as of a similar nature or level

Required Qualifications

•Master’s degree in physical education/exercise science or related degree; Two years’ experience in individual and group performance training programs; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

REQUIRED LICENSING
•Strength and Conditioning Specialist ( CSCS ) certification through NSCA ;
•SCCC Certification (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified) through the CSCCA (Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association);
•First Aid/ CPR certification;
•AED certification;
•Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands

Positions in this classification typically require: climbing, balancing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Additional Demands

Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.

•Mornings, nights and weekends required.
•Team travel as assigned by director

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES :
•Sports injury assessment, treatment, management & rehabilitation;
•Applicable laws related to medical information (i.e. HIPPA );
•Purchasing/bid processes;
•NCAA rules and regulations;
•Communication, as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Hours of Work

M-F, nights and weekends required.
Team travel required.
