Job Summary

The Manager of Internal Communications supports the creation and execution of internal communications campaigns that promote the purpose, beliefs and principles of the Tarrant County College District. This position will work with executive leadership and employees throughout the organization to increase employee awareness of TCC strategies, goals and successes; improve employee engagement; and help drive organizational results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and execute articles, memos, speeches and other communications
• Convey key messages quickly and concisely using a variety of communication vehicles to a range of internal audiences
• Prepare and cascade communications plans for key functional areas supporting internal communications programs, campaigns and messages
• Compile, prepare, and distribute employee communication across the College on a timely basis via email or posted on intranet
• Prepare executive-level briefing materials
• Collaborate with team leaders throughout the College to develop and coordinate a content management strategy for internal communications across all communication channels including intranet, email, and newsletter ensuring consistency of message and alignment to overall College strategy
• Remain informed and aware of organizational operations and initiatives and identify areas where additional internal communication is needed. Serve as point of contact for suggestions from other staff, and develop a plan to meet those needs
• Establish and maintain measurement standards to provide meaningful information that will guide continual improvement and further drive employee engagement, satisfaction and retention. This also includes soliciting feedback and input on internal communications and recommending new systems and vehicles to improve the quality, consistency and timeliness of information
• Build and help execute an internal communications calendar, which includes the scheduling of district-wide meetings and employee events
• Facilitate the adoption of relevant best practices, and manage the internal communications on related projects and undertake other duties as assigned • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
• Three (3) years of work experience in employee communications, project management, public relations or communications for a range of media
• Outstanding writer, proofreader and copy editor
• Demonstrated ability to pay strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within an organization
• Demonstrated ability to multitask on projects requiring differing skill sets while maintaining high standards of work

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Master’s degree with a major in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university
• Achievement of professional certifications (e.g., CMP, SCMP, etc.)
• Proficiency with a content management system
• Experience working with executive-level assignments, presentations, events and/or programs
• Bilingual
• Experience within a college or university setting
