Job Description:
Position Summary
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population.
Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the program, MassBay Community College and in accordance with regulations set forth by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (MABORN), and standards set forth by the Accreditation Commission of Nursing Education (ACEN) standards. The faculty member is responsible for maintaining a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing and maintaining expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
MassBay Community College seeks qualified part-time instructors for the current and future semesters in the Practical Nursing Program. The practical nursing course, including the on-site lab, covers fundamentals and medical-surgical patients in long term care or rehabilitation lab/simulated facility. The instructor must have clinical experience, communicate effectively, and be able to assess students objectively and work as part of a team.
Instructor responsibilities include supervising students in the lab setting; guidance in the completion of assignments such as daily worksheets, concept maps, and care plans; medication card system, nursing skills, and conducting student evaluations. Adjunct instructors are expected to deliver course instruction in a learner-centered environment conducive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in this position communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a 24 hour period of time. The faculty is responsible for providing substantial student feedback with assignments and skills, and submission of skills lab evaluations, attendance.

PN 102 Foundations of Practical Nursing- Laboratory: Tuesdays 12:30pm-3:30pm
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and an awareness of new developments in the field.
  • Integrates didactic content into the lab skills assignment for the student(s).
  • Communicates with course faculty on a regular basis to track student progress or to develop performance improvement plan to support student learning.
  • Responsible for conducting weekly evaluations.
  • Provides feedback to course faculty on student preparedness regarding curriculum.
  • Attends course-specific orientation on campus with Director of Nursing and course faculty.
  • Participates in the Program's continuous improvement efforts, which includes BORN and ACEN requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Current unencumbered Massachusetts RN license;
  • Possess a minimum of two years full-time experience in nursing within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction; and
  • Maintain expertise appropriate to teaching responsibilities.
  • Medical Surgical clinical experience, long term care or rehabilitation experience;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body;
  • Previous clinical teaching experience preferred.

Additional Information:
Education: Minimum BSN - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Salary Range: $62.97/hr - $71.81/hr, depending on academic qualifications
Classification: Division of Continuing Education (DCE)
